World Cycle 2014: Germany

In September 2014 I will be leaving my job of 16 years at Philips to follow my dream. The last 21 years I have lived in Europe – in the Netherlands and Germany, and now it is time to go home. Home to Australia. In Europe I have learnt to love cycling. What better way to finish the European chapter of my life and enter the next than by cycling home?

After leaving the Netherlands, I will be cycling through the country where I spent most of my time in Europe: Germany. Here is my planned route through Germany.

It is not a straight line – I want to visit friends in Aachen, Köln, Bonn, Giessen, Böblingen and Meßstetten. Also, I want to follow rivers where possible, and nice bike paths. I have used waymarkedtrails a lot – there are lots of cycling routes there.

Have you got suggestions for improving this route? Please let me know!! 🙂

do you meet a host in Stuttgart?

    • Hi Sandy.
Thanks for your message! I am staying with friends in Erdingen near Stuttgart (if all goes according to plan). Thanks for your offer, though. Maybe we can cycle a bit together coming into or leaving Stuttgart..
