Links

Here is a list of links of material that I have used in my bike trip planning, and people that have helped me. Thank you to you all!

Route planning sites

  • Waymarked trails. Lots of official and semi-official bike routes in Europe. Very helpful.
  • Eurovelo route database. Eurovelo is a network of bike routes planned throughout Europe. Some of the routes are being built and signposted as we speak. Some of the routes have gpx files available (especially in Finland). A useful resource, even if most of the routes have no detailed information yet.
  • Fietsenroutenplanner. A great site that helps to plan cycling trips in the Netherlands following the local bike node network.

Cycling forums

People / organizations

  • Couchsurfing. People offer a place to stay for the night. A great way to meet interesting people, and to find a place to stay.
  • Warmshowers. Similar to couchsurfing bit especially for cyclists.
  • wereldfietser.nl. Lots of information on world cycling. Also great bike maintenance courses.
  • Expedition Earth. Mehamn, Nordkyn Peninsula. Far north of Norway. I met Ruan there on my last trip to the far north. Back then, and all through the year he has been a great help in planning my trip. Thanks Ruan!

My gpx routes

  • I plan and track my routes on EveryTrail. You can view my routes and download gpx files here.

    Hi Matthew,
Vielleicht eine Vorstellung was kommt. Überwintert hat sie schließlich im Oman. Ist auf dem Weg durch Zentralasien, Mongolei nach Australien

    LG peter

    • Hi Peter,
Thanks for the links. I had not seen these blogs. Really cool. It looks like Gerd made it through Burma on the bike. I hope I am able to cross Burma and cycle to north-eastern India and Bangladesh!!

Heike, indeed, bridged the winter in Oman. My winter will be a bit different – learning Chinese in Taipei.. 🙂

      Greetings from Eindhoven!

      Matthew

    • Thanks for the tips, Peter. I have now updated my links page with lots of information I have used in my planning. I hope some of the links are interesting to people.. 🙂
