Last year when I was in Mehamn, I said I wanted to see this wonderful barren landscape with nice weather. Well, the Gods provided me with perfect weather. Man, it was spectacular.
Day 46. 70km. Bekkarfjord – Mehamn. Map and gpx.
I got out of the tent to a perfectly blue sky and bright sunlight. My trip today was going to be a highlight. I could feel it now.
Goodbye to Peder’s farm.
And the 3rd most northern dairy in the world.
I love tundra landscape. I love the barren plains on the top of the fjord cliff faces. Today I saw tree landscapes, grassy landscapes, rocky landscapes and fjords. Pictures tell 1000 words.
Note the road up in the distance in the previous photo. 🙂
When I was in Mehamn last year with Chris it was freezing, it was wet – very wet, and it was blowing a gale. Today was the complete opposite. Was this the same town?
It was great to see Ruan from Expedition Earth again. He was very helpful both last year and this year in planning my escapades in the far north.
I hope to come back in the winter for some kite skiing. Sounds amazing.
Tomorrow’s weather is meant to be ‘better’ than today. In asking how this is possible, I was told that it will be warmer. My goodness I am a happy (and lucky) chappy. I love it here in the far north.
