This morning I got up, clicked together my Teva sandals, and said to my bike Lambchop: ‘today we are leaving home’ (Germany – one of my homes).
Day 7. 118km. Stralsund – Swinoujscie. Map and gpx.
And then we followed the cobblestone road.
And followed the cobblestone road.
And followed followed followed followed followed the cobblestone road.
And I thought: if only I had a brain.. I wouldn’t be following this cobblestone road for hours. If I only had a brain..
Today was a day of frustration with the roads. Cobblestones, sand roads, roads that peter out, and bad sign posting. But the day was made fantastic with beautiful Greifswald and amazing Usedom Island.
Greifswald is a Hansestadt with a picture postcard centre.
The clouds remained a spectacular backdrop to the cycling.
Usedom is a holiday island with so much. Beaches, forests and amazing hotels like castles. And there are steep undulations that are fun to hurtle up and down. I feel really fit, and am getting stronger every day.
And, exciting, exciting. I have made it to Poland. The next stage of my journey can begin.
