It is a different feeling cycling in a grey, overcast, cold landscape. Sleeping in and eating is more appealing than cycling. We made our way to Bitola and called it a day. We had a lovely evening with Goce – our warm shower host in Bitola. Greece tomorrow.
The summer infrastructure of our resort also felt grey in the cloudy skies.
We crossed some plains, and then climbed over a pass of over 1100m before dropping into Bitola.
A lovely evening chatting and eating with Goce and his father. We had ijvar – a secret Macedonian fondue. Yummy.
Hi Matthew,
It’s funny to see, so far from (my) home, familiar scenery in your pictures.
I recognize the little shop on the right in your first picture (20m in front of your bike), where I bought something to drink and when returning to my bike, I hit my head against the yellow sign next to the shop (behind the shop in the picture), luckily wearing my helmet 😀
Cheers,
Gert-Jan
Wow. 🙂 We didn’t stop there. Ever onwards. 🙂
Ohrid lake – is amazing even when it is cloudy, but you have to go back when it is blue and in its full glory. For ajvar you have to visit Negotino in October. And, Resen apples – you have to pick them and eat them right away – and then appreciate them…
Hey, Nevenka. We saw Ohrid Lake in all its glory and it was amazingly beautiful! It was just in Oteshevo that it became cloudy. Check out the blog post from Day 54. Lake Ohrid was spectacular! https://arctic-cycler.com/2014/11/07/day-54-73km-struga-oteshevo/
