Sun, castles, views overlooking the Loire, minor bike problems with improvised fixes. Very very bright. It’s summer. I like!
I cut cross country to get back to the Loire from my camping ground. It was a lovely road through the forest before becoming a bit busier. To add some excitement, a car tried to overtake me, almost hit a car opposite, and set off a chain reaction resulting in another car sliding across the road with a screech of brakes. Oops.. All was well. ๐
Well, the Loire is endowed with lots of cute towns with old buildings/castles. Many villages were explored and castles observed. Also, I marveled at the nuclear reactor which blends in amongst the castles. The stream it gave off made for some welcome shade from the sun. ๐
In Beaugency, a German couple showed me a picture of Chateau Chambord. Never heard of it, but the photos they had looked nice. I detoured passed it. Wow! This castle is amazing!
So. The cycling alternated between cycling through the rolling fields and cycling along the Loire. The route was well signposted, and cycled by quite a few people.
My bike will need a visit to the bike shop when I get back to Eindhoven. It needs new ball bearings in the axle. Also, the baggage frame has snapped. It’ll still hold. I’ll strap it up with super sticky tape from my bag of goodies. ๐
I’m still lazy as far as cooking goes. One day I’ll have to do it. The pizzeria was beckoning me in this evening. ๐
Bed time now. Bonne nuit!
